Let's Talk Beadlocks!


Navigating the complex terrains of off-roading demands more than just powerful engines and good driving skills. The tires and, more importantly, the wheels, play a pivotal role in ensuring the vehicle's stability, especially when the conditions are less than forgiving. One innovation that stands out in off-road wheel design is the beadlock wheel.

  • What is a Beadlock Wheel?

Before diving into the benefits, let's clarify what beadlock wheels are. At their core, beadlock wheels are designed to lock the tire's bead onto the wheel, using an external clamp system. This clamping ensures that the tire remains attached to the wheel even under extreme conditions.

  • Lower Tire Pressures Without Debeading:

One of the main tactics off-roaders use when navigating soft terrains like sand, mud, or snow is to decrease tire pressures. This results in a larger tire footprint, improving traction. However, reducing the pressure also increases the risk of the tire debeading or separating from the wheel. Beadlock wheels mitigate this risk by locking the tire in place.
